get started

From zero to a running agent.

One command installs the daemon, finds the agent CLIs and logins already on your machine, and leaves you with a session you can watch run.

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/agentproto/ts/main/scripts/bootstrap/install.sh | bash && agentproto setup

what agentproto setup does

Each step is skippable

It checks first, shows what it would change, then asks. Re-run it any time: finished steps are skipped.

  1. 1. preflight

Checks Node >= 20.9, your OS, and whether your CLI is current.

  2. 2. workspace

Registers the current folder as a workspace.

  3. 3. daemon

Installs the daemon as a login service on macOS, starts it and waits for /health. On Linux it runs it in the background; on Windows it registers a scheduled task.

  4. 4. agents

Detects the agent CLIs you have, and installs the ones you pick.

  5. 5. auth

Finds your existing logins and keys, and imports them as profiles in one pass. Optionally adds an API key.

  6. 6. clients

Registers the daemon's MCP server in the coding clients you pick.

  7. 7. skills

Installs the agentproto skill pack into each connected client.

  8. 8. first run

Runs a 20-second test session and streams it back so you can inspect the result.

Plus more for machine pairing, bundled apps and local models. Run agentproto setup to see the full list for your machine. Prefer to run each step yourself? Jump to the manual steps ↓

your coding client

Connect the client you already use

The daemon is an MCP server. Register it once and your client can start, watch and stop agent sessions.

Registers the daemon over HTTP with claude mcp add --scope user, falling back to ./.mcp.json.

agentproto install-mcp --agent claude

Undo with agentproto install-mcp --agent claude --uninstall.

manual install

Prefer to do it by hand?

Everything agentproto setup does, one verb at a time. This is useful for scripting, CI, or for inspecting each step.

  1. 1.

Install the CLI. Needs Node 20.9 or newer.

    npm i -g @agentproto/cli
  2. 2.

Run the daemon. On macOS agentproto daemon install keeps it running as a login service; anywhere, agentproto serve runs it in the foreground.

    agentproto daemon installagentproto serve
  3. 3.

    Install an agent adapter.

    agentproto install claude-code
  4. 4.

Find the logins you already have, then import one as a profile.

agentproto auth discoveragentproto auth profile import claude-code anthropic
  5. 5.

Register the daemon's MCP server in every coding client it detects.

    agentproto install-mcp --all
  6. 6.

Start a session and watch it run.

agentproto sessions start claude-code --prompt "say hello" --attach

troubleshooting

Something off?

agentproto doctor checks every step and prints the exact command that fixes each one. It changes nothing.

agentproto doctor

agentproto doctor --json prints the same report as JSON. Attach it to bug reports.

agentproto doctor --json > doctor.json

Stuck? Open an issue on agentproto/ts with your CLI version (agentproto --version) and OS.

connect your phone

Your agents, in your pocket

agentproto pair offer --qr prints a QR code. Scan it to open the control center on your phone, end to end encrypted.

agentproto pair offer --qr

Revoke it with agentproto pair revoke.

Every verb, flag and output is in the CLI reference.
